Caribbean Netherlands Work Visa are the three special municipalities of the Netherlands that are located in the Caribbean Sea. They consist of the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba, although the term “Caribbean Netherlands” is sometimes used to refer to all of the islands in the Dutch Caribbean.

Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba are islands in the Caribbean Sea. Together they make up the Caribbean Netherlands.

History of Three Major Municipalities:

Caribbean Netherlands Visa, Bonaire was first settled around the year 1000 by the Caquetio people. In 1636 the Dutch West India Company (WIC) took possession of the island.

St Eustatius was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493. The Dutch took possession of it in 1636.

Columbus also discovered Saba in 1493, but he is not believed to have gone ashore there. The Netherlands took possession of Saba in 1632, but the island changed hands several times before finally coming under Dutch rule again in 1816.

After a referendum on the islands, Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba became special municipalities of the Netherlands in 2010.

Caribbean Netherlands Work Visa from Bangladesh

To get a residence permit as a highly-skilled migrant, you must have an employment contract or assignment (or written agreement) for at least four months with an employer recognized by the Dutch immigration authorities and earn above a certain level of income.

If you want to work in the Caribbean Netherlands work Visa, your residency status and nationality will dictate if you need a Dutch work permit. Dutch work and residence authorization are closely linked, so your reason for moving to the Netherlands – for example, as a highly-skilled worker, employee, student, or family member – will determine what kind of authorization you need to legally work in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands has one of the most internationally focused, highly educated, motivated, and multilingual workforce’s in the world, and the demand for highly skilled workers remains high. There are incentives for international employees such as a tax benefit scheme (30 percent tax ruling) and a fast-track highly skilled migrants program.

There are multiple Dutch permits for obtaining authorization to legally work and live in the Netherlands, for example, the highly skilled migrant permit, intra-company transfer permit, orientation year permit for foreign graduates, or the general work permit.

Working as an employee in the Caribbean Netherlands Visa: the single permit
For stay of less than 90 days, your employer can apply for a separate short-term work permit for you, which you can use in combination with a Schengen visa or your passport.

For stays of more than 90 days, in most cases your employer will be able to apply for a single permit (gecombineerde vergunning voor verblijf en arbeid or GVVA) in your name, which combines the Dutch residence and work permit in one application via the IND.

Generally, Caribbean Netherlands Work Visa applications are subject to a labor market test, which entails that you need to earn what is deemed a competitive salary, plus your employer will have to submit information to the Dutch immigration authorities about the company, the job contract, and the recruitment process to show the position could not be filled by an EU/EEA or Swiss national. For some work permit applications, the labor market test is not required, for example, in the cases of intra-company transfers, internships, and refugees.

Generally, single permits are issued for a maximum of one year. However, there are some exceptions, such as the intra-company transfer work permit, which can be issued for a maximum of three years.

If you change your job, the new employer must also apply for a work permit in your name.

However, the single permit procedure is not applicable to all work permit applications. For the following categories your employer still needs to obtain a separate work permit:

  • seasonal workers
  • students
  • refugees
  • service provider (in some cases)
  • seafarers
  • intra-company transferees
  • general work permit..

Changes in 2020
The government is planning to allow family members of foreign self-employed workers in the Netherlands to enter employment without a work permit (TWV) in the future.

This means if you are a self-employed foreign worker, your family members will be able to work for you or another employer without requiring a permit. It is expected this change in regulation will be effective from 1 October 2020.

Caribbean Netherlands Work Visa Requirements:

  • Duly filled out and signed Caribbean visa application form.
  • One recently taken passport-sized photo (not older than 6 months, 35-40mm in width, be taken with a light blue or grey background , full face, no sunglasses. Please do not affix the photo on the form.
  • Passport or official travel document recognized by the Netherlands, with a validity that exceeds the intended
    stay by at least 3 months. Please make sure that the passport has a blank page specifically assigned to visa.
  • Proof of travel:  Copy of the roundtrip airline reservation with passenger details and cop of the travel itinerary.  Proof that you can proceed to the next country after you have visited the islands, i.e. confirmed
    itinerary / airline reservation or airline ticket and required visa.
  • Proof of Travel Medical Insurance (minimum cover USD 15000) and a copy:
     You must provide an official letter in your name from your travel insurance company stating only
    the following criteria:
     It is valid throughout the islands.
     It is valid during the entire period that you will be on the respective island.
     The coverage is at least USD15.000.
     The coverage includes repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical care and/or emergency
    hospital treatment or death.
     If your own medical insurance does not provide this letter you can purchase a travel medical
    insurance through the internet.
